Ghillie camo colours
Outside green nylon colour
My vision is to make a reversible bomber jacket inspired by the shape of the Supreme jacket pictured above. I’m adding a twist by taking inspiration from military ghillie suits and a look from OFF Whites first couture show. The zips in the outfit are inspired by army flight suits.
These are photos from a fitting for my show at the local village festival. In these images the jacket is complete apart from the ribbing hem and the front zip which you can see in the top right picture.

Final looks in show
After sewing the bottom half of the trousers, pockets, fly, shorts etc I then moved up to the waistband. I made the waistband by first sewing on one half to the trousers and I then put bias binding along the unsewn raw edge. I folded the biased binding side of the waistband in and then attached that down. This was the final major step of the making of the trousers. After this all I needed to do was attach the button and sew the hem at the bottom.
Magazine Planning
I’d like my magazine to start with an introduction of the content within and a thank you to the contributors. It would also like it to have a facing page inspired by this early 2000s Becks advertisement I found in an ID magazine.
The following page I would like to try and make a double page AD for Chanel using images from their old advertisements. I would use the pictures shown above and any more that I might find to create a collage.
This next section would be a photo shoot inspired by early 00s ID magazine spreads. Specifically their shots capturing teenagers in their bedrooms and their possessions. I want to recreate this by photographing some of my peers in their own natural habitats showcasing their personal styles.
This Raf Simmons logo really inspired me to make my own logo for my project using similar bold typeface.
These photos are all cutouts from magazines I’ve looked at. They are references for what I would like my ‘Urban Military’ shoot to look like. I want the shoot to be studio based for ease and lighting purposes. A few of these images above highlight the makeup through close up photography and that is something I want to do as well. Part of the presentation of my project is the army face paint on the models body and I really want some closer pictures that showcase that. Another one of the pictures above shows a model in a silver dress shot with flash and that’s inspired me to shoot my ghillie suit against silver to really make it pop. Many of these shots have in focus yet blurred imagery and I would like to incorporate this mood in my own project.
My last project was called ‘The Everyday’ and the theme was centred around everyday life and objects. One piece was an oversized tote inspired by plastic shopping bags and the other was a coat that incorporated creases for it to seem already worn. I would like to shoot these pieces in inner city locations and the above images are a moodboard for how I would like the spread to look.
Photoshoot Day
After a few delays to my shoot because I was still working on my looks it finally happened on the 6th of June. I was able to get my friend Nathan to model and he was kind enough to also let me paint him with the army face paint. I had initially thought that I was going to have to paint myself so this was a massive relief as it allowed me more focus and creative control of the photography. When we first arrived I set up a table with a moodboard of what I wanted to achieve with this shoot and then I went on to paint Nathan. I ended up using one tub of military face paint. By the time I had set up, painted and styled we were left with under 2 hours shooting time which left me slightly stressed about getting everything done. Luckily there was a shower on site so we were able to get Nathan washed and changed into the next look swiftly. Things overall went well and I was very pleased with the outcome especially how my clothes looked on camera. I do feel like my vision came to life and the initial ideas I set out with were achieved on the day.

Printing and Designing Zine
After I decided to change my idea for my for my ‘Urban Military’ magazine into a look book after a
very successful photo shoot of my clothes. I decided to print the book myself which entailed me teaching myself how to use indesign & print a book I then researched print locations & eventually(after a long search) was suggested a good one in Farringdon called ABC printing that offered to help me how to figure out how to organise the book to print but, when I arrived there I discovered that they had been sold so they couldn’t do my prints. So I returned to school where I found my old teacher Sophia who said that she was confident that I could print my book in school so I spent the rest of the evening with her organising in indesign and printing out multiple prototypes. I had to wait to the following morning to buy my preferred choice of gloss paper which I then purchased. I arrived at school with the gloss paper to discover that all the school computers were REALLY slow this dragged out the printing process on show for many hours longer & when able to print the ink didn’t stick to the gloss paper! So… I tested normal school paper which two my surprise worked because it’s actually a very good printer with really good paper! My one ultimate disappointment was my unsuccessful attempt to print the book cover on card which was a disappointing as I believe the writer I was using was calibrated to one specific paper which resulted with other papers failing.
